



nothing more than to play golf in college, and, of course, he feels
he has the talents for a top-notch Division I school! You shudder,
act supportive, and wonder in the back of your mind – how are we
ever going to do this…. can he/she really get a golf scholarship…..
where do we start….. who do we call….. how do we get him
noticed…. what is the process? You race to the internet; to the
bookstore; talk to other parents; talk to counselors; contact
recruiters; to begin your search. It becomes apparent that this is a
complicated, confusing process with no step-by-step “how to”
manual, particularly for the unique world of college golf recruiting.
We know, we’ve been there!
We have gone through the experience of hiring/firing recruiters,
researching every internet site and book we could find, talking to
parents, coaches, tournament directors and more. It becomes
extremely frustrating and confusing to know where to turn and how
to get the ball rolling, when there is nothing out there specifically
designed for the junior golfer. Through countless hours of
research, interviews, pitfalls, false starts, and disappointments,
we developed a systematic approach to navigate our way through
the myriad of confusion. With our new insights, knowledge, and
experience, we began helping other junior golfers, and their
parents, with their search for the right college and the right college
golf team. Many, many times we were asked to develop a manual
by parents and junior golfers. And, so this book was born.
Being recruited for a college golf team is a very unique process set
apart from other sports. The answers can’t always be found in
generically written recruiting materials, which are commonly
directed towards the higher profile big team environment. High
