guide.
Keep in mind that while all this turmoil is swirling around you,
you are also preparing your son/daughter to go it alone for,
probably, the first time in their life. As part of this process, you
may need to nudge them to be the driving force through it all.
With those gentle nudges (ok – so sometimes it’s more like a
hard push) that only a parent can give, you will have to remind
them to send, follow up, fix their grammar, read it again, call,
interact, ask questions, be mature, dress appropriately, watch
their behavior, talk to their counselor, stay on top of their
grades and so much more.
And, similarly, you will have to do the same thing – coaches are
not only watching the student-athlete, they are watching the
parents too. They are paying close attention to how you interact
with your son/daughter on the course, after the tournament and
during a college visit. It is just as important for you to conduct
yourself in a suitable manner, as it is for your son/daughter.
We wish you the best of luck on your adventure, and hope that
we are able to help you along the rocky road of college golf
recruiting.
