| Introduction |
| For the Parents We know first hand the emotional and physical roller coaster mentally and physically exhausting, yet, at the same time, the most rewarding experience ever. Walking the fine line of parental emotional balance is a challenge like no other. As if schedule of high end travel sports (and maybe two or three sports with more than one child), and patience becomes stretched. However, this is the time where you and your teen have to pull together to achieve the dream. Take a deep breath, and collaborate on a plan of action. As the parent of a junior golfer, you have likely already spent an enormous amount of time bonding with your teen during road trips to/from tournaments; before, during, and after tournaments celebrating or consoling (or both); strategically planning the right tournaments at the right time, etc. So, for the parent of a junior golfer, in particular, the leap to collaborate on a plan of action is more like a small hop, as you’ve been doing it all along. There hasn’t been a coach or group planning your steps for you, you and your teen have had to go it alone. This experience is very unique from the team sports arena and is absolutely invaluable as you begin your next chapter. We have heard every realm of advice as to the ideal parental role in helping your teen through the long and arduous road of athletic recruiting. Our best advice, from our experience, is that it is up to you. You, and you alone, know your teen best; you know their personality, their capabilities, their strengths, and their weaknesses. More than likely, you will take on the role of guide and supporter during this journey, with a healthy handful of assisting in the every day mundane tasks.
